The Curious Case of Marriage Invitations

Am I the only one who gets marriage invitations by Email or Facebook event invitations? I know your answer. but i have something to say.
Clearly I am not able to understand this new fashion of marriage invitations the electronic way. During my school and college times, I never received marriage invites e-way. we used to get a card and mithai ka dabba with it to share the happiness and getting a proper invite for the wedding. Then trend changed. Those sweets got replaced by chocolates and dry fruits. But still one would get a wedding card with it.

What is my problem with invite?
No problem certainly. BUT, where is the personal touch? Where is the feel of getting an invite? How will I get into the mood that it’s your wedding and I have to alter my plans and make it to your BIG day? I get the point that now we both are in different cities and you can come and give me the invite but a phone-call? One two-three minute call inviting for a marriage or sharing the plans would add so much value to your email or even face book invite. If I am available as helping hand, trust me, I will ask you for that as well.

Another thing, in last one month, except for checking on mobile, I have hardly been to face book and commented on your status messages or pictures. There if you send me your wedding invite, chances are that I see that invite even after I comment on your honeymoon album pictures. Yes. Quite Possible.

Same goes for email. I check my mail mostly on mobile and all the attachments don’t open. And at times, if you send me the invite on one email address I hardly check, there goes my chance of attending the wedding too.

For the record, I have attended only ONE wedding out of family this year. That of my friend’s sister. And I would have gone to that wedding even without a mail or face book invite. :D

So In short invitation is not compulsory, personal affection is. And if you think its acting pricey and ego issues and all. Aisa hi hoon main !! :P

P.S – Don’t take this post to your heart especially if you sent me an invite and I could not make it to your wedding. You know about corporate life. It’s a bitch. Call me when you have new entry in your family and we will celebrate it then. Lohri. Diwali. Birthdays. Anniversary. :)

BTW What do you feel about such e-invitations ?? :P

Super busy in life?

Ever wondered how busy everybody is in life and at times miss out in contacting friends because of one or the other reason.many a times excuse is that other person can also contact, why should i make a move? I say why not? The other person might be thinking the same thing. Write a note. Write an email or a letter. Call. Just few minutes of conversation can charge you up and renew the bonds. If you can breathe, eat and sleep, you can definitely take some time to talk to your mates who you spent talking all night or chatting on messenger windows and have shared your sms jokes and random pondering.connect offline coz virtual world is no replacement to human bonding.I have experienced friendships turning from very good friend to good friend to friend and eventually just being facebook friends.and this mini post is just an alert so that you don't lose any diamonds in your life.

p.s this is first post written entirely on mobile. Expect more mini posts now. Will try to get back here and write something.

Reservations? I also want.

Are you from any reserved category? Sadly I am not. I belong to 'general' category and even I aspire to become a government office if ever get a chance. A respectable position, serving the country and securing the future, I don't have a chance.

While I was looking at all the options and ways to serve my country, I just thought to see if I meet all those basic eligibility criteria’s.

About me:
Nationality: Indian
Category: General

Aahh... General... should be little difficult but I’ll try to see if I still make it.

If 100 Seats are on offer, as per current constitutional acts, there is a 23 percent reservation for SC/ST, 27 percent to OBC, 20 percent to MBC, 1 percent to scheduled tribes. Total 71 percent which is applicable to all depts. If women reservation bill of 33 percent is passed, total goes to 104. And seats are 100. Therefore centre has to create 4 additional vacancies to consider all quotas and give EQUAL opportunity to everyone. Yeah, general category is waiting if they can compete for any post. The answer is NO. If it’s not a central govt. vacancy, then add to that some additional reservations to families of freedom fighters, families of ex-servicemen, region based quotas, religion based quotas and management quotas.

Even if I studied well and completed my graduation with good marks, I am not eligible to serve my country, why? Because I belong to General Category and unfortunately, we don't have any quota right. I remember losing out on seat in good college to someone whose rank was way below then mine but he got the seat because of some 'quota'.

My take on Women Reservation Bill: I don’t understand why the reservation is required? If at all reservation is required, it should be only at the building block level. For anyone under -privileged right to education is must, so if anything to be considered, reserve some seats for all the castes so that everyone gets education. Post matriculation, everyone should be counted on merit. Everyone’s hard work should pay. Why should someone deserving lose out to reservations? I have seen people having big cars and coming from rich families take need-based scholarships while in college. NOT FAIR..!! But you can't do anything. Why? Coz you are general category and they are certified quota people. It is disturbing and demotivating as well. I might not be aware if there is but any link to proper justification on why the bill is required and how it will help India grow will be appreciated. Please share. All I know is that, if the bill is passed, all the leaders get their wives, daughters, nieces, aunties into the parliament and one big family drama will be shot in parliament every 5 years.

P. S - When I make friends, I don't follow the quota system. :)

How Easy How Tough ?

"Daughter : Yes Dad..I don't want to meet the guy. whatever you feel is right for me, i am okay with that. and yes, when things are final, let me know.I will have to plan my leaves in office and be there for ceremonies. !! Love you Dad..!!" *and this looked more like a give-away life tone'

makes me wonder what kind of decision is this ? would like to see what you have to say on it. what if someone becomes my/your life partner with such decision making.

p.s - this was conversation of someone standing just behind me in metro few days ago.could not help but listen because metro was crowded and she was loud enough. just three minutes of journey ,we boarded off at rajiv chowk and moved to our own destinations.

My Name is Khan - Ok Thanks Bye

My Name is Khan.. what hype.. what trouble and end of day you lose out your 2 hours and 26 minutes waiting for things to get over. So much hype and so little out of movie, Srk - Kajol could 've got things way better. After New York and Kurbaan, just another story on post 9/11 attacks situation, i could just go on predicting things falling in storyline.Don't want to put spoilers but minutes after interval, i wanted the climax to happen and close down the things. Alas!! took another hour to happen so.  Kjo has tried to use all emotional tools to make you feel sad about the situation and go weak but then if you are ready to tolerate some, movies loses. Kajol has some charm which reflects in her performance. she is cute, she is sweet and she is graceful in movie. Music is savior. tere naina and sajda are best tracks for me in movie. Srk.well ab bazurg ho chuka hai...too repetitive..'young' srk of dil to pagal hai, kuch kuch hota hai, ddlj is gone. should start taking some mature roles if he still wants to carry on in industry.
totally personal opinion.. did not like the movie. can't recommend watching it in theatre. one can easily wait for dvd to come and see.

Rating : 1.5 out of 5 stars. Say 0.5 thank you to Kajol, 0.5 to music, 0.33 to Kjo for good production work (cinematography, editing is good),0.17 to srk  and lot of other credits to shiv sena for bringing in loads of business to this movie which otherwise would have been just another movie of this year.

p.s if you have good company, do go for the movie. you will get more than one chance to talk. ek teer do nishane ;)

p.p.s i am kajol fan and it was one single reason i saw this movie.

Is Life Easy?

Life is definitely not as easy as it looks. Yes. Looking at myself, I think being an under 24, working in a global mnc as an erp consultant, a decent (yes yes I know it can't be called a decent but whatever it is..a good amount) pay package and all the comforts (good clothes to wear, good food to eat, good shelter to sleep. without 'good' they are necessities),what more I can ask for. But something still is missing. I am quiet these days. And there is something in my silence which is Shouting. Screaming. Crying to say the least and it is irritating me. I don't expect anyone to come up and ask me what happened because I can't explain what is happening. but if you know me, you will know what my silence is saying.

To sum it up..as one of classic facebook group name goes.. Mind Says = All is Well. Heart Says = Ghanta all is well!!

P.S There was this negativity in my thoughts (a lot of it) which had to come out. Better it came out through this post than on someone.. If you read my blog ,you can easily ignore this one. was complete non-sense. no-ways-related to anything else in this world but me. my next post will certainly be good. A positive and nice one. All is well.

15 Long Years

Even after taking care of his family and children for 15 long years, Rakesh still considered Rashmi only a 'Sex Object'.

P.S - Fiction . Short Story . One Sentence . First attempt.

2010 and Dreams

Dreams make life worth living and some dreams i look forward to fulfill in year twenty ten.

1. To get interviewed- This is most random thing to think of *in my case*, but kuch na kuch to aisa kar hi jayenge ki apna bhi kuch naam hoga. On serious note,be practical, outperform and get interviewed and if by end of september, no one takes my interview then i will post my resume on naukri and will 'get interviewed' for some new job.

2. Shot at dream companies - Not that i don't like my current work place, but i have some dream companies on my list and working in your dream company always act as morale booster. My current workplace was also in that list when i joined it but this year with some experience in kitty, i think i will definitely like to give a shot to two names in list.

3. Read and Write - This year i will read more, not sure if that reading would be subjective or leisure reading but definitely, i will be friends with books. In terms of writing,i will try to write more this year. been a good start so far. Three posts in this month and i have already written so many letters which add to 'writing' stuff and if my english gets better with, i might start writing seriously :p

4. New Wardrobe - I want a new wardrobe. new clothes. new colors of turban.new shirts. new jeans. new trousers. formal. casual.everything. and to buy all of this, a sponsorship. :D anyone? I will be a good brand ambassador. pakka promise.

5. Bring AmritSarovar back - Amritsarovar needs attention and contribution. got plans but need good time to implement them.can expect things getting better in later half of year. so definitely before year ends, site will be back with better presentation.

6. Travel Show - To work on travel show. be it for myself, be it for youtube or be it for any production house, but some time and effort gonna be spent on this.after 'world cafe asia' experience, the learnings and exposure should be utilized in some manner and if you are reading it, make sure you see the show as well. release date. well.. something unsure of.. but soon :)

7. Less of Crying and More of Laughter - took this line from a poem written by a friend. last year has been totally different from few years before that. expectations were minimal and life was better. lot of travelling, good moments and less issues.

8. Travel Travel Travel - I have wheels on feet and i travel a lot and i have this thing in mind to travel more and see some new places this year. Rajasthan, Sikkim, Leh/Ladakh, Srinagar, Uttranchal are some places i want to visit sooner or later and yes mumbai for sure in near future. just waiting for things to be little stable and then i wanna feel the spirit of Mumbai for some time.. kuch to hai us sheher mein.. ya fir us sheher mein rehne wale dost mein ..mujhe mumbai jana hai. too filmy.. but when you like koko.. you can't help it.. :D

9. Gain Knowledge - I want to increase my knowledge about my city, my state, my country, my religion and be confident about all of them when asked about.I am proud Indian,I am proud Punjabi and I am proud Sikh. not in any order.

10. Laptop. Camera. Cellphone. Bike.  Wishlist is one word :) p.s= wardrobe already mentioned above.

11. Learn a dance form - Be it Salsa, Jive, Hiphop or Bollywood, i should learn atleast one thing this year. so that next four years i cover all of em. dnt ask me for bhangra, that is in genes :P

12. Talk Less- Heh.. just kiddin.. relax.. :p

Ever donated creativity?

If you are good at some art/creativity, its a great to donate it in one or other way at times. It might help someone or for that reason, some cause.

Something which caught my attention was this donation by
Jasmeet to The Uniform Project which eventually goes on auction and money collected to educate a girl child. Jasmeet is a friend and upcoming fashion designer. Its not that she couldn't donate money to some cause, but since it was something where she could share her art and help the cause at same time, i think a great idea.

What color you want?

I want....

remember the childhood times when this game used to be so much fun. well the same game was played today..different rules..different people and virtual world. Facebook turned to play field, all the girls became players and rules were simple, tell your bra color and let the fun come into the picture. supposedly the motive behind it was to spread breast cancer awareness but honestly, i did not get a single link to any cancer awareness website. i remember working with my corporate for such an awareness campaign but that was in October when the awareness month is actually there. So,why all of sudden, out of nowhere, one word color updates? whatever it was.. all taken in fun and good spirits.

Twitter had to take this thing in chill out mode hence started the #umbra express. i don't know if it will help me if i ever take a GRE/GMAT, but now i know branch, bravery, bracelet, brand, brat, brain, brazil, brandy, bravo, brawn, bravia, bragging, brad and yes, i am not telling you anything more on that. *yes you can find something common in all words*

can't share all the colorful status messages that i read today but must say whatte unique combination of colors my friends use :-} vibgyor for someone, pink for the other, purple was most popular one on my status list and i better move to some other point ;-)

yes, since none of color status messages took me to cancer awareness site and you have come this far reading this post, if you are a girl visit the site for all the information.

if you are guy, yes.. no fun reading it for yourself but bookmark this for anyone and everyone who you care.

and to end the post, another status message supposedly spreading breast cancer awareness - "stare if you care".
